Collecting Reviews in Person
Review request emails need the customer’s email address. Plenty of sales don’t capture one: a counter sale, a table at a restaurant, a job finished on site. For those, put your review link or its QR code in front of the customer. They scan it with their phone camera and land on the same 60-second review page your emails link to.
It’s also the fastest way to get your first reviews, before any integration has sent a single email.
Finding your link and QR code
Your review link and QR code are in two places (both admin only):
- The setup checklist on your dashboard: open the Share your review link step.
- Profile → Locations: every location has its own Shareable review link. If you run multiple locations, use each location’s own link or QR code, so its reviews, and its Google invitation, go to that location.
Click Copy to copy the link, or QR to show the QR code, then Download PNG to save it. The download is a 1024 × 1024 image with a white border built in, sharp enough to print.
Before you print a batch, scan the QR code with your own phone and make sure it opens your review page.
Where to use it
- At the counter or register: a small sign by the card reader (“Enjoyed your visit? Scan to leave a quick review”).
- On tables: a table tent or a sticker on the menu.
- On paper you already hand out: receipts, invoices, packing slips, business cards, or a leave-behind card after a job.
- By text or chat: paste the link into a message after an appointment or a call.
For print, keep the QR code at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) wide, larger on a sign people read from across the room, and print it dark on a light background.
How these reviews differ from emailed ones
- The same review page and Google invitation. If you’ve connected your Google Place ID, every customer who reviews through your link is invited to post on Google too, exactly as with an email.
- No email attached. The review isn’t tied to a customer email the way an emailed request is. The customer can add their name if they want to.
- They don’t use your monthly review requests. Your plan’s review-request allowance counts emails sent. Reviews collected through your link or QR code don’t count toward it.
- They still wait for your approval. Like every review, they arrive as pending and appear on your review showcase only once you approve them. See Moderation.
Don’t offer a discount, freebie or prize in exchange for a review, and ask every customer, not just the happy ones. Google’s rules prohibit incentivized and selectively solicited reviews, and can remove them from your listing.
